Ah, and I can hear you saying to yourself, “So, why would she be interested in me?” And I am going to explain this to you, and I want your attention because this important,.....it is a little out of Cinderella and the evil step sisters so listen closely.

The culture in Colombia is very masculine, there is a phrase describing the men as machista where the men are dominant and the women are supposed to be very subservient. They are not kept in the castle all day, but many are expected to work and almost all do that absolutely have to. It has long been accepted that the men have many girlfriends and mistresses besides their wives. There is a double standard as men expect that they can have  a mistress or multiple girlfriends, but the woman is expected to be faithful to her man.


Latin women (Latinas) are very family oriented, it is everything to them, but they no longer are willing to accept a man who is unfaithful or abusive to his wife or girlfriend. Interestingly, there is a base physical attraction that many have to lighter skinned and/or blue eyed males, in anthropological terms, what one gene pool brings to the table is accentuated by an opposite gene pool to bring synchronicity. In layman’s terms there is often an animal attraction between different looking humans.

So, there is a base physical attraction, there is a perception that males from North American and European country men treat their men better. What woman wouldn’t want to increase her odds of being in a loving, faithful relationship with someone she is attracted to?

But, I can tell you this, they are NOT, truly not looking for a meal ticket out. They are working 50-60 hour weeks, but they are often educated and self-sufficient. Leaving behind their family is often gut-wrenching for them. If you decide to take one for your wife, there will be homesickness, I promise you that. A very high percentage of any issues you will have with a Latina in a marriage will be related to what is most important to her, the family she has with you, or her family back home.

What you have is surely probably more than she has. She is not materialistic, but she will be appreciative of what you have. There will not be inquiries from her about your personal possessions such as cars and houses. Don’t volunteer  it, it is considered in bad taste…...a nice switch from our culture where you can feel some wanting that information within the first five minutes of knowing you.
